ANTHEM are comprised of four characters that gel together as well away from the stage as on it, with decades of professional live music experience between us; you can be sure that we know how to rock your party!
Rachel has a voice that ROCKS and her journey to being our lead singer began many years ago when she started out as a professional singer at the age of just 16.
With a career spanning 16 years, Rachel has been there and done it all.
Rachel’s early days as a cabaret artist, saw her singing at hotels and holiday parks all over the UK, this was followed by a year as part of duo, where she performed all things pop! (Yuk!!)
As well as the singing she also had a “not so secret” love of all things panto/theatre and after playing an array of characters from Widow Twanky to Alice Fitzwarren, she hung up her wigs and costumes to pursue the sunnier climes of Cyprus where she sang once more for guests from all over the world. It was there that she rediscovered her love for rock music.
Now, after seeing her fellow band members perform and having hired them for her own wedding, she gets a chance to sing alongside them all the songs she loved as a kid.
Willing to sing anything ROCK, her powerful lungs will give a new spin on some classic rock favourites!
When Colin (aka Mad Jack) started playing and singing for his supper you could get three pints for a pound and health food didn’t exist... Oh happy days!!
Originally from Brighton, he learnt his trade playing or singing in just about every venue including the Brighton Centre and the Brighton Dome. In the early days he recalls “It was Jimi (Hendrix) that shaped my musical mantra, which for me is always about expressing the inner spirit, and playing from the heart."
Colin’s modern day hero has to be Guthrie Govan. “Okay he has blinding speed, super clever yet humble, but far more important to me is (like Jimi) every note comes from the heart."
Anyway back to Colin. He arrived in Devon 25 years ago, and the first place he visited was the Cider Bar in Newton Abbot.... he decided to stay. Meantime he has married a Devon lass, and has built a local reputation in various outfits, but decided to take a break in 2012, to recharge and move focus to a long overdue studio project.
Of ANTHEM, Colin says... “With quality throughout, it was a pretty easy decision, and I believe what I can bring to the party is that same spirit Jimi had. You know that instinctive feeling you get sometimes that something is right? Well I got it about ANTHEM... this is big... really big!"
Chris has over twenty five years of experience as a bass guitarist in both covers and originals bands, he also plays rhythm guitar and provides vocal harmonies; he has recorded and gigged extensively since the early eighties and has previously taught bass.
His bass heroes include John Entwistle, Timothy B Schmidt, Glenn Hughes, John Deacon and Zsa Zsa! He is a lifelong fan of The Who (awesome) and also enjoys Del Amitri, Deep Purple, Whitesnake, Black Country Communion, Thunder, The Eagles, The Hamsters, Santana and Train.
When not holding the low end for ANTHEM he can be found looking forward to holding the low end down for ANTHEM.
Chris uses Fender, Music Man and Warwick Basses and Ashdown amplification.
Tim has been making music since he was a kid. Drumming has always been his first instrument but over the years he has turned his hands to guitar, double bass and mandolin.
As a drummer, Tim is equally at home on stage, in the pit, or in the studio. Tim’s work has varied from West End shows to corporate gigs, and international tours to a residency at Filthy McNastys. Tim spent over four years touring the world with STOMP, played kit across Europe with theatre shows and bands, and toured the UK with numerous function bands, including “Blender" and "The Invited."
Proud moments include performing at The 100 Club, on Top of the Pops and playing The Royal Albert Hall.
